Have you ever heard of a principle called entrainment or synchronization? In the biomusicological sense, it refers to the synchronization of organisms to an external perceived rhythm such as music and dance. Basically, it’s when you start to really vibe with the beat of music you hear and begin to move more effortlessly.

You probably don’t need a scientist to tell you that music makes exercise more enjoyable, but do you know what its true effect is on physical performance? Studies have shown that music can reduce the perception of effort significantly and increase endurance by as much as 15 percent. This is why one of our underlying principles for getting and staying fit for our clients is listening to music while working out.

When looking for the most effective workout songs, you should gravitate towards those that have a distinct rhythm and appropriate tempo (denoted in beats-per-minute or bpm for short) for your chosen activity. The song’s bpm should correspond to the heart rate you’d hope to have during the workout.

At JL Fitness, we care about our clients which is evident by our unmatched four-step onboarding process.

Step 1

To get started, we’ll schedule a consultation by phone to briefly discuss your fitness goals. This consultation is free of charge and will only last 15 minutes.

Step 2

Once we know what fitness goals you’re aiming for, we’ll develop a personalized fitness plan to get you there as quickly and as safely as possible.

Step 3

Next, we’ll follow up with you to go over the recommended fitness plan for achieving your fitness goals. From here you can book the fitness training sessions that best fit your schedule.

Step 4

Lastly, we’ll get your fitness plan started with an assessment at your first training session. This will help identify what your strengths and weaknesses might be with regard to various workout routines.
